We had fun picking Blackberries too! Even the road the cabin is on was a beautiful hike. We are already booking our next two stays!

    This is my 4th or 5th time staying at this home. It is a great spot. The house has everything you need and is always meticulous when I arrive. The outdoor area is absolutely beautiful. There are several seating areas to just sit and relax. There is a great deck with a barbecue, patio table and fire pit. I can not say enough good things about this rental. It is so peaceful staying there.

    The features we enjoyed most was the private backyard feel with hot-tub, and spending time on the front porch enjoying the views and friendly neighbors.

    The letter offered Tom Lowrie a $5,000 bonus for listing his Guerneville home with a booming vacation rental management company based in Oregon.

    Lowrie, who owns a triplex on a once-tranquil bend in the Russian River, found it an offer he could readily refuse.

    For one thing, his home was not already listed with another property manager, as required to claim the bonus. For another, he is fed up with the tech-fueled proliferation of vacation rentals in Sonoma County, where more than 2,000 properties that cater to visitors have generated both a tax bonanza and a headache for officials scrambling to deal with the social disruptions.

    Its out of control in Sonoma County, said Lowrie, who moved onto Northern Avenue a dozen years ago for the luxury of an isolated neighborhood bordered by vineyards and forest.

    Now there are five authorized vacation rentals on his block and more that are operating without county permits, Lowrie said. Two rentals across the street from him have a combined capacity for 22 people, and more often show up on summer weekends, drinking and partying late into the night.

    Lowrie said he repeatedly calls the rental company, asking it to shut up the vacationers – a step that works but brings little solace. Our neighborhood is trashed, he said. The peace and quiet is gone.

    Its a beautiful vacation spot, he said, when asked why Vacasa decided to move into Sonoma County.

    The county needs to get a handle on it, he said.

Within a relatively short time frame, the committee received just shy of 1,000 respondents. 713 completed surveys were from a resident survey with 14 questions and 271 were from short-term rental owners and support services who answered 13 questions.
