All travelers should pack light but this is especially important for seniors because you do want to haul around heavy luggage.
Remember you will have to carry your luggage to the airport, the shuttle, and the hotel.
Whatever you have in your suitcase take out 50% because you will not wear or need most of the things you pack.
Also, pack a small notebook for jotting down important facts like the name of your hotel, telephone numbers, attractions, etc.

Recomendation On Small All
My in-laws are in their 80’s but are in good health. Their mobility is slow and careful, but they can get around without assistance walking if there are not too many stairs and the facilities are not too far apart. They want to take a 2 week vacation somewhere warm this winter and they have never experienced an all-inclusive. I think they would love it. Any ideas for me to research? The AI does not need to be luxurious – – these are pretty down to earth folks who won’t want to spend a fortune and wouldn’t think of getting “spa” services 🙂
Allegro Playacar sounds like it would be a good fit.
I have stayed at Allegro, small and convenient. But, the air conditioning didn’t work in a lot of the rooms. And the TV’s are outdated, with no English channels, maybe one or two-Crime ID. They may want TV for evening time.
Viva Wyndham Azteca may be an option.
Suggestion – Arrangements can be made for golf carts/wheel chairs and assistance with luggage at all airports for Seniors. I’ve made arrangements for a family member here in the U.S., and so happy we did.
It is a bit farther from the airport….But a girlfriend and myself went to ABR in Akumal this past April ….pretty quiet and low keyed and a smaller resort …just what we love.

El Dorado Maroma is known for it’s smaller size but I’ve never been there so can’t comment on ease of getting around. Playacar Palace is also small but again, I’ve never stayed there.
