Itinerary #: History Culture And Nature In The Peloponnese

Time for adventure with this itinerary ideal for older kids and teens. You’ll hop and hike into history in four different spots around the country.

You’ll start in Athens, overlooking the city from one of its many peaceful parks. Climb up to the top of the Acropolis with a storyteller to hear the ancient tales of the Parthenon and other monuments, then down into the city streets with an artist to learn about the modern street art scene. A family cooking class will instruct you with some basic techniques to recreate your favorite Greek dishes at home and give you the knowledge to better appreciate the cuisine on your journey, then gallivant down the Athenian Riviera to spots like the floating museum, a sea turtle rescue, and more before you top it off with a sunset over Cape Sounion.

Your next stop is Nafplio, a seaside city where you’ll hike up to Acrocorinth, one of the largest remaining castles in Greece. Scope out the city from above before spending an evening amid its multicultural-influenced architecture. You’ll visit the Sanctuary of Asklepios and the Ancient Theater at Epidaurus, where you’ll find insight into ancient Greek life and cultural practices before kayaking over some further remains of the city. Crete With Kids One Of The Best Greece Destinations For Families

Crete is one of the most amazing family-friendly Greek islands and one of the best places in the world for a beach vacation with kids, with a side of culture!

Also known as Megalónisos or The Great Island, Crete is home to beautiful, sun-drenched beaches, mysterious caves, gleaming coves and historical ruins, which make is perfect for families who love the beach but also historical sites.

Knossos, home to the Minoans, one of Europes oldest civilizations, is located here and it is a blast to visit with kids.

This is the place that gave birth to the story of the Minotaur, the labyrinth and the escape of Daedalus and Icarus and it is not just interesting for kids, it is also breathtaking for adults.

I highly recommend you read all the stories about this place before you go and brush up on your Greek Mythology it will make the visit extra special!

Top tip: make sure you have good sunscreen, sun hat and lots of water for your visit in summer especially. This place can get super hot.

Make sure you also visit the Archaeological Museum and, if you have small kids, do not skip a stop at the Labyrinth Park, a super fun family attraction in Crete kids are sure to love!

Other fun attractions for kids in Crete are the Natural History Museum and Crete Aquarium although you can be sure the kids will most of all want to stay in the water, of which Crete is generous!

Is Corfu Good For Families

Yes, Corfu definitely passes the test too! Corfu is another great contender for family holidays in Greece. I traveled with the kids as a solo mom and I always felt safe and cared for. Being a mom traveling alone with two kids can feel overwhelming at the beginning , and from bus drivers to waiters in tavernas, to just random people on the streets and on the beach, everyone was hospitable and willing to help.

We stayed for two weeks on the northern coast of the island and on that particular occasion I decided not to drive and try organized tours and public transport. It was quite easy to book excursions fit for children. We even sailed to Antipaxos, jumped off the boat, and enjoyed snorkeling in a really deep shore and everything went super smooth.

Corfu With Kids Best Greek Island For Kids In The Ionian Sea

The island of Corfu is an absolute gem and one of the best Greek islands for families with kids of any age.

This spectacular island features glorious hills, cozy villages, lush greenery and several pristine beaches and it also has fun water parks for those days when the kids just need to let their energy out and have a blast!

Corfu has several shallow bodies of water where kids and even toddlers can enjoy swimming and splashing.

Family beaches not to be missed in Corfu are also Palaiokastritsa and Halikounas, which has beautiful sand and you are also like to enjoy Sidari.

This beach has stunning rock formations and kids of all ages can enjoy building sandcastles and playing an array of water sports.

The town of Corfu itself is lovely and has delightful small alleys that are a pleasure for village exploring with kids.

Among the many things that make Corfu a great as a family destination is that it is a good base for organized tours and island hopping.

From here, you can easily hop on a day cruise to Paxos and Antipaxos, a walking tour around the pretty city center two lovely options for curious families like ours, who like to mix time on the beach and some exploring!

How To Travel With Kids On Greek Ferries

Overnight ferries are a great way to travel long distances and not waste a day of sightseeing, and the cost of a cabin is similar to that of a hotel. Plus, you get to sleep on a bunk bed in a boat! How cool is that?

Ferries are one of the ingredients of what makes a trip to Greece so magical and unique. Ferry hopping around the islands especially the Cyclades where the islands are very close to each other is a ton of fun. And if youre just going from one island to the next its very easy too.

Foot passengers usually dont need to book far in advance especially for ferries between islands just buy a ticket from a local agent the day before travel and hop on board. But for ferries from Piraeus to an island during high season, its recommended to book at least a week prior to your departure. Which Greek Island Is Most Family

The greek island that is most family friendly is Crete, as it has the best beaches overall, the best amenities and definitely some of the best family and kids-friendly resorts in Greece. However, Crete is quite a big island and its not the typical small and cute greek island you may have in mind, which makes the family holidays logistics slightly different, in my opinion. If you want a small greek island for families then Naxos is your next best option with endless sandy beaches and shorter distances overall within the island. Naxos island is one of my favourites as well, but it does not have large resorts as Crete. It is ideal for family holidays
