Airbnbs With A Terrace In Rome

ItalyPerfect.com Fresco Rome Vacation Apartment

Renting an apartment with an outdoor terrace is an ideal choice for a stay in Rome. Over the years of traveling in Italy, Ive been building up my wishlist whenever I see a memorable listing. These are some of the most unique and stunning apartments in Rome with a terrace. For some variety, I also included listings from Booking and VRBO .

You know that scene in Eat Pray Love where Julia Roberts is standing in amazement on the top of Castel SantAngelo, looking out onto a sea of Roman rooftops studded with church domes, hair blowing in the wind? That could be you only every day when you walk out onto your terrace if you rent one of these apartments.

When renting an apartment in Rome or anywhere in Italy, youll want to make sure it has AC if youre visiting in the summer months. Rome can get hot and humid, so youll want a cool and refreshing apartment. Dont expect every building to have an elevator and Italian floors start with 0, not 1. So if youre coming from the States, a 2nd floor apartment in Italy is actually on the third floor. Read more of my tips and what to expect from accommodations in Italy. Apartments listed below start with lowest price and move to larger/more expensive.

Where To Stay In The Eternal City: Finding Apartments For Rent Or Vacation Rentals And More

Figuring out where exactly on your long or short stay in Rome depends on many factors. Budget, personal interests, proximity to historical sites, vacation activity planning, etc. Using Wimdu to find a vacation rental or apartment in Rome should prove to be quite useful due to the high quantity of high-quality listings available. The best plan of action for a Rome first-timer would be to find a small bed and breakfast right in the old city near the Pantheon or Colosseum, or enjoy one of the many great apartment rentals in the area between Via Giulia and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. An alternative area for accommodation in Rome would be around Barberini station, just on the outskirts of the old city center, or the Cipro neighborhood right next to Vatican City. Or, if you are more interested in bars and fabulous nightlife options, then you can’t go wrong by staying in a rental in the popular Trastevere district just south of the old city. For more luxurious apartments or flats for rent, the famous Via Veneto north of Barberini is the perfect area.

Green Spaces Near Prati

While a serious culture fix comes with the territory while staying in a Prati vacation rental, there’s plenty of opportunities to enjoy a little outdoor time, too. The vast Villa Borghese is the closest green space to the neighborhood and an impressive one at that. Open every day, the almost 200-acre park is home to the city’s Gallery of Modern Art and the Rome Biopark, a 40-acre zoo with the proverbial lions and tigers and bears, although many visitors are just as happy to simply settle back on the grass and enjoy the shade afforded by the park’s towering pines.

When Is The Best Time To Stay In A Vacation Rental In Rome

Unique terrace over Rome Has Washer and Patio

Choosing the best time to visit Rome comes down to personal preference: the warmer months come with huge crowds, meaning you may find long lines and limited tickets around town if you visit during chillier periods, theres a more manageable urban flow. The good news about the latter option is that low temperatures seldom drop below freezing and there can be moderate days, even in January and February. May and September may be a sweet spot to catch the best of both worlds. As Rome is an urban hub, it isnt hard to find a festival or major event in the city at any given time, but annual highlights include the Festival del Verde e del Paesaggio garden festival in May, the VinòForum wine festival in June, the Taste of Roma food festival in September, and the season-long Lungo il Tevere Summer Festival from June through September, with al fresco performances and films at heritage sites.

Retail Therapy In Prati

If a little retail therapy is on the agenda, there are few better places to indulge than along Cola di Rienzo, a broad shopping street dotted with high-end Italian and international brands as well as some smaller independent stores. Quaint pavement cafes along the way provide the perfect pit stop for an aperitivo. With bargains in the bag and before returning to your rental, it’s worth popping across the Tiber for a look at Piazza del Popolo, a popular meeting place where highlights include a towering Egyptian obelisk and the Fountain of the Goddess of Rome.

Local Weather For Your Stay In Vacation Homes In Rome

Rome has a Mediterranean climate , which means warm, dry summers, and cool winters with regular rainfall the city also gets more hours of sunlight than most other European destinations. Average summer highs peak around 78 degrees in July and August, while the top winter temperatures hover around 55 between December and February. Winter lows dip into the 30s, so a trip to the Via Condotti could be in order in case you “forget” your winter coat. Where To Eat And Drink In Rome

A Dreamy Terrace in Rome

âWhen in Rome, do as the Romans doâ, as the famous saying goes. Well, the Romans like to eat and drink, and there is plenty of choice for both delights to be had in this city. Of course there is a great selection of the obvious choices of pizza and pasta, but there are many traditionally Roman delicacies to be savored that you might not have heard of. Try some Fiori di zucca, zucchini flowers prepared in a deep fried batter, or perhaps you would like a more meaty Scaloppine alla romana, veal sautéed with fresh baby artichokes. For you sweet tooths, there is the well-known tiramisu, and plenty of ice cream flavors to be enjoyed. If you see Italians lining up outside a gelateria, you can be sure that the frozen delights on offer there will be spectacular! Be careful about prices though, there have been occasions of ice creams being offered at â¬16 per scoop in areas overrun with tourists! Nevertheless, the less touristy areas and back streets yield up a large number of authentic restaurants, bakeries and other eateries. While there might be a large choice of wines on the menu, the Italian house wine is usually good. There is always the option to buy ingredients from one of the many food markets or delis and take them back to cook up in your apartment or bed and breakfast, one of the benefits of choosing a self-catering rental with Wimdu over a hotel!

How To Get Around Rome

Fiumicino Airport is Romeâs main airport and lies 19 miles to the west outside of the city. The best way to get to your rental or the city center or your rental is to get the airport train. This reaches the centre in 30 minutes. Rome has an easily understandable transport system and the easiest means of getting around is probably the extensive and well maintained tram, as the metro doesn´t really go to any of the historical sights.
