The companies involved promptly severed their relationships with Sandals, stating they were unaware of its discriminatory practices. Adverts for the company were banned from the London Underground in 2003 after public objections were raised. One possible cause for this policy may have been that homosexuality was illegal in Jamaica. Sandals ended its policy of refusing service to gay couples in August 2004 after further protest.

We just completed 8 great days at Sandals Royal Caribbean resort. The resort and all the restaurants are top notch but what made our trip so wonderful were our two amazing butlers, Nicholas and Melesia. First time we booked an Elite Butler service room and it was well worth it! Nicholas and Melesia were so attentive, friendly, and anticipated everything we needed. They treated us as their most important clients and thought about things for us we would have missed. They both deserve an A+++ grade for our time with them. Definitely ask for them when you visit here!
