My husband and I are visiting NYC Oct. 13-20, and I’m trying to decide between a few different vacation apartment rentals for our stay. One is on the Upper West Side, and two are on the Upper East Side.
The one on the west side is in the 100 block of West 78th Street. The two on the east side are on East 88th Street between 2 and 3 Avenue and East 68th Street between 2 and 3 Avenues.
Can anyone recommend one area over the other? The pricing on all three places is pretty comparable.
I’ve heard that the east side is snooty and expensive and doesn’t have as many interesting restaurants as the west side, which is making me think the west side is the better choice.
Any advice?
I have lived on 72nd street, in my hughe apartment building & actual area around there the diversity in terms of people and resturants varied considerably to the East Side. The East side TO ME has more diversity in these elements. Especially between 103rd to 70th street between Lexington and 1st avenues up and down/ left and right.
And with reference to the “Upper Upper East side – 160 street” . I guess living in Phili it gives your knowledge or that area.
newyorkcityforever–72 street on the UWS is a great area but it is not the only part of the UWS. Did you ever go above 90 Street on the UWS and if so are you telling me that it is less diverse in people and restaurants than 1st to Lex in the 70s, 80s and 90s up to 96 Street.

Hotel Or Apartment In The Upper West Side For First Nyc Trip
My parents and boyfriend and I are planning a trip to NYC for Thurs Oct. 29 – Sunday Nov. 1. It will be our first time visiting NYC. Apartments seem to be cheaper than staying in a hotel but do you still get the same “experience” in an apartment over a hotel. Weird question but I just really want to make sure we get the most out of this trip since it is only for a few days. Also, which hotels/apartments are your favorites?! 🙂

Apartment rentals of less than 30 days are ILLEGAL in New York City You do NOT want to rent an apartment.
Unfortunately for you, you have chosen to visit on the weekend of the New York Marathon, which inflates hotel costs enormously. Can you move your plans either up one weekend, or back one weekend? And to make a suggestion, it is really necessary that you let us know how much you wnat to spend, and how many beds you need.
