What Should You Know About Veterans Vacation Clubs

Travel for Veterans

There are several different vacation clubs open to veterans. These clubs offer special discounts and access to travel details you might otherwise not know about. The goal of these clubs is to provide guidance and support for veterans and their family who want to travel, and in many cases, membership in these clubs is free.

Some offer optional premium memberships that unlock other discounts that can save even more money and provide even more travel opportunities.

Most veterans vacation clubs are open to all veterans and currently enlisted members of the armed services.

One of the most popular features of these vacation clubs is the access they provide to Space-A deals. Space-A, which stands for Space Available, provided fixed price room rates that are far lower than what you would find available for non-military members.

Resorts offer Space-A deals that provide veterans with comfortable accommodations feature more space and better amenities than regular hotel rooms. These rooms are also priced per unit, so you can bring the entire family, leave the kids at home, or travel alone and still pay the same low price!

Veterans vacation club deals are available for a variety of different vacations, including:

  • Adventure Vacation
  • Ski Vacation
  • Ski

Vacations For Every Type Of Traveler

Armed Forces Vacation Club features several different types of vacations. Many locations offer something for the entire family, regardless of the travelers ages. Some of the more popular vacation types include family vacations, adventure trips, and journeys centered around beaches, fishing, golfing, skiing, and other activities. There are also relaxing and romantic getaways. A quick search on the AFVC website or a call to the AFVC customer service line can help you find what you are looking for.

Are They Actually Good Deals

OMG yes! We stayed at a resort in Orlando, Florida in October 2018. Heres a breakdown:

  • What we got We stayed in a two-bedroom suite with a fully stocked kitchen and a washer and dryer about 25 minutes from Disney World, across the street from Universal Studios.
  • What we paid Through AFVC, we paid $349 for a seven-night stay. Thats exactly $349. We didnt pay any extra fees for this one.
  • Normal rates If we had booked it directly through the hotel, we would have paid roughly $1,190 , according to their published rate online.

They do have several different types of rates some of which are normal hotel prices, particularly during peak seasons at in-demand resorts. But, if you can snag one of the space-A rates, youre getting the type of deal outlined here.

As a bonus, they often sell discounted certificates for as low as $299. You purchase these first, then book your resort stay. However, you arent just buying these and blindly hoping something is available. You can still search available resorts before you purchase the certificate. This gives you the option to buy a certificate and use it later, or buy a certificate and book the resort you want immediately. Just be sure to read the fine print as the certificates usually have travel required by dates.

Program Pros And Cons

Most vacation club memberships come with a price tag. An advantage, if you are eligible, is that membership in AFVC is free.

The disadvantage is that you usually have to spend a week in just one destination and that accommodations of choice may not be readily available in peak season. In addition, the inventory of resorts and accommodations vary and may not be available at all because they may not be part of the AFVC network.

  • What Is The Difference Between R& r High Demand And Short Stays

Military Lodging: Armed Forces Vacation Club

R& R, formerly known as Space Available, is excess inventory that is set at a special price of $379.00* USD per week. R& R is comprised of inventory that is unlikely to be used due to a high supply or low demand, or both. So rather than potentially let this excess inventory go unused, we provide it at an attractive discount to those who have or are currently protecting our country.

High-Demand represents a broader range of resort availability, including holidays, larger units and more sought-after destinations.

Short Stays, where available, are short stays .

The cost is reasonable, at an annual rate of just $119 a year or $249 for three years .

Note: the Space-A Resorts mentioned in this article are not to be confused with Space-A travel. Both refer to space-available, but one refers to private resorts, the other refers to flying on a military aircraft on a space-available basis.

    Armed Forces Vacation Club Reviews

AFVC is endorsed by the Department of Defense and the Department of Morale, Welfare and Recreation that supports leisure services for the military. On behalf of the U.S. military, deals worldwide have been negotiated with unsold timeshare space or resort space that enables this program to offer deep discounts to members and retired members of the armed forces. A portion of every sale goes back to the military.

Reviews on TripAdvisor are more about the pros and cons of the resort or condo rather than about the membership aspects of this AFVC. A typical mixed review on TripAdvisor details the failings of the property rather than the price paid when using AFVC.

How Does A Vacation Club Work

What Is a Vacation Club? Vacation clubs are a newer variation on the timeshare model. Instead of purchasing the rights to a specific unit, as with a timeshare, vacation club members pay an upfront sum to purchase a number of points which can be redeemed for different vacations each year.

Final Word About The Armed Forces Vacation Club:

The Armed Forces Vacation Club is an organization that is built on the notion that our armed forces deserve the best. And to back their claim, the club offers weeklong space-available resort stays which cost so low that would make you think that it is too good to be true. Starting from 50 Dollars per day, these deals are an absolute steal.

The Armed Forces Vacation Club inventory is one of the largest ones you can find anywhere with access to accommodations in more than 100 countries with a wide range of options. The options start from a studio apartment to a two or three-bedroom apartment. The best part is that these rental properties are fixed priced. That is because the units are priced according to the accommodation and not the number of people. This is my favorite military vacation club out there!

Would you consider it related content if I included a link to my Airbnb Hosting article here? Maybe Airbnb hosting isnt specifically a part of this military vacation club but you staying in, or hosting a short term rental is fun too!

Do I Have To Stay All 7 Nights

    The Maverick

While R& R or High Demand vacations are comprised of one-week, seven-night increments, you don’t have to stay seven nights. You can choose to check in a few days late or check out a few days early, depending on your preference. Simply contact the resort ahead of time to make the proper arrangements. At $379* USD per week, if you choose to stay only 4, 5, or 6 nights it can still be considered a fantastic deal!
