Bradenton Beach Anna Maria Island Florida
The southern most city on Anna Maria Island, Bradenton Beach is home to Bridge Street a lively downtown area running beach to bay. It hosts plenty of nightlife and locally owned shops and restaurants, all worth a visit. The city is the narrowest on the island with most homes no more than two blocks to the beach. The disadvantage is having to cross Gulf Drive to get to the beach, however the village from 27th to 21st is quite charming. On the southern end before Longboat Key bridge sits Coquina Beach with great beach facilities and a farmers market. By far the liveliest town on the island. Bradenton Beach also hosts one of two bridges which lead to the mainland.

My home town, Holmes Beach sits in the middle of Anna Maria Island and is the largest and widest of the three towns. Mostly residential and historically with the most year-round residents, Holmes Beach tends to appeal to the more quiet vacationer or resident. With a decent sized area for weekly rentals that appeals to travelers, the majority of the bay side areas have beautiful canal front homes with virtually no vacationers. It does have a great combination. With a few outside walking malls which offer the necessities, this town also houses the only grocery store on the island, Publix. Of course the beach is incredible as well, which is the case for the whole 7 miles of the island. Manatee Avenue bridge drops onto Holmes Beach from the mainland close to the middle of the city.
