There’s so much to see in New York and bus tours are a great way to get around the city. Grab a ride in Manhattan and see landmarks like the Empire State Building, Times Square, Rockefeller Center and the Financial District. Most double decker buses are open at the top, so you can snap photographs as you roll along, or hop off when you want to spend a little more time somewhere, whether to shop for souvenirs in Chinatown or grab some pizza for lunch.
Nyc’s Top Attractions Scenes And Communities
While in New York it’s important to be yourself, but you also need to consider how to act around local New Yorkers. New Yorkers tend to be very assertive and usually know exactly what they want and how to ask for it, so don’t be thrown off by their forward attitudes. Popular TV shows like 30 Rock, Friends, and Seinfeld help describe what life is like in New York City. New York is a city with something for everybody, every hour of the day, and the best way to get around is by foot. The cityscape, local characters you will meet on every street corner, as well as many of the world’s renowned attractions make this city a must for all travelers to the United States. We recommend grabbing a New York style hot dog or cream cheese bagel and paying a visit to the Empire State Building or the Statue of Liberty. In the hot summer months, it is a particularly great idea to find some ice cream and head to the fountain in Washington Square Park, a popular hangout area for tourists and locals alike. Another great idea is to pay a visit to the UN Headquarters, with guided tours Monday through Friday, and to check out the the Museum of Modern Art , one of the world’s most important and focal modern art museums.

Most adventures to New York start in the Big Apple, and there’s no better introduction than the soaring Art Deco architecture, top-notch museums to rival any city on Earth and, arguably, the best dining scene in the world. That said, if you tire of bar-hopping in Brooklyn, follow the Hudson upstream and you’ll find a whole world of towering cascades, forested mountains and rows of vineyards, not to mention the historic rust-belt cities now on the up. Alternatively, you can hop abroad a train to Long Island to kick back on the beaches, or mingle in the Hamptons.

Sightseeing Near New York Vacation Rentals
When you stay in a New York vacation rental in the Big Apple, attraction-wise, you’re spoiled for choice. Take art for example. In the Met and MoMA, you can see a dizzying number of works from some of the most inspiring artists, both past and present. You’d need several lifetimes to explore the ideas that sit within every book in the New York Public Library, but the building alone is worth a long look. Sports fans should catch a New York Yankees game, or swing by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown.

Nyc Vacation Rentals The Risks
While I personally know many people who have had great success with NYC vacation apartments, and all over the world, and many New Yorkers use vacation rentals when they travel, NYC is a different story. Unless you own the whole building, or the tenant stays in the apartment with you, a short-term vacation rental is illegal!
The short of it, is that unless the Landlord owns the entire building, it is illegal to rent or sublet a co-op, condo or apartment for stays less than 30 days. In 2010, the NY State Governor passed a bill and NYC cracks down on this law.
All the vacation rental properties offer money back guarantees. However, none of them authenticate whether the listing is illegal or not . Should the landlord, owner, doorman, superintendent, co-op board, condo board, building manager or NYC Department of Housing lock you out while youre here, and they all have a legal right to do so, what will you do?

Getting Around New York City: Walkin’ Around Taxi Subway And More
The best way to really get to know New York City is to go around on foot, just like the locals do day in and day out. Going around on foot between destinations gives you the advantage of being able to really soak the local scenery in. Going on foot is the true New Yorker way, and native New Yorkers are so good at walking, in fact, that they treat the city sidewalks as a sort of highway system. You stay to one side unless you’re going in overdrive to get somewhere! The classic way to get around this world metropolis is to flag down one of those infamous Yellow Taxis. A first-time New York visitor absolutely must try to hail one and take a ride a couple of blocks, at least the driver will claim to get you wherever you want to go within a New York minute . The more economical form of getting around, however, is the public transport. Buy a New York MetroCard in order to take advantage of the city’s bus services and subway lines. It is the most efficient mode of long-distance transportation in the city and ideal for a day of both sightseeing and a night of wining and dining. Wimdu recommends staying a vacation rental or New York apartment close to one of the subway stations so you don’t have to walk too far to get somewhere far across the city, fast.

Look For Privately Owned Units That Are Family Run
New York is working to prevent the condos and co-ops from taking up valuable real estate for commercial use. People are driving up prices and tying up space with apartment rentals that families or individual New York City residents could be living in.
If you look for apartments in a brownstone, for example, that is most likely a single-family home where they have renovated an apartment legally for vacation rental use.
While there are risks to booking a vacation rental, with the help of these tips and by booking through VRBO, those risks are greatly reduced.
If you stay informed, make informed decisions, and do your research, a vacation apartment rental will help you have an enjoyable and affordable vacation in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
