Relax In Beautiful Lamu Island
Lamu is a small gorgeous Kenyan island similar to Zanzibar in Tanzania, with its Arab influences and Swahili culture.
You can enjoy one of many empty beaches, sail the Indian ocean in a traditional Kenyan dhow boat. Dont forget to check out the vegetable market to strike up a convo with locals and drink a delicious coconut before you leave this quiet island.
Visit Laas Geel Republic Of Somaliland
Laas Geel consists of breathtaking outdoor rock paintings located 50km / 31mi from the city of Hargeisa, in Somaliland. This incredible place was the highlight of my trip to this region of the Horn of Africa.
In Laas Geel there are several murals with man-made paintings with over 9000 years old. Humans, dogs, giraffes, cows are portrayed with muddy colors. Some of them are as big as 1m / 3.2ft in length, and it is amazing how they can be in such excellent condition. Somalia is one of the cheapest African countries to visit.

Serengeti National Park Tanzania
Tanzania is home to another iconic African destination: the Serengeti. Located in the far north of the country, it shares unfenced borders with Kenyas Masai Mara National Reserve. Together the two parks host one of natures most extraordinary events, the annual Great Migration of several million wildebeest, zebra, and other antelope. For the best chance of seeing the herds on the move, head to the Serengeti from December to July, making sure to check which area of the 5,700-square-mile park is currently seeing action.
Even if you dont catch the migration, the Serengeti is a remarkable safari destination. Inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its ecological importance, it boats the highest concentration of plains game in Africa. The abundance of antelope, zebra, and other ungulate species attracts large numbers of predators, making the Serengeti one of the best places on the continent to spot lions and leopards. All of the Big Five can be seen with some luck .

Wander The Souks In Marrakesh Morocco
Beautiful Marrakesh in Morocco makes for the perfect introduction to this fascinating North African country that can actually be accessed via an overnight ferry from southern Spain.
Marrakesh is located in western Morocco and is the countrys fourth-largest city and home. The walled Medina here dates back to the Berber Empire. Spend a day wandering its maze-like streets filled with souks selling everything from spices to jewelry to brightly colored traditional clothing and slippers.
With a Moorish minaret that is part of the city skyline, Koutoubia Mosque is one of the top attractions in Marrakesh, dating back to the 12th-century.
For a different perspective of this vibrant, chaotic, and very lovable city, book a hot air balloon ride for early morning. Youll watch the sun set the rooftops ablaze as you float above Marrakesh.

West Coast National Park
Just an hour drive north of Cape Town, West Coast National Park is the locals favorite, so if you come in a warm season, expect it to be busy. This park has beautiful beaches, stunning coastlines, scenic hiking trails, wildlife, and lots of wildflowers. Springtime is the best time to see the flowers and the park might be even busier than usual.
West Coast National Park is considered a real jewel. Its not a must-see in South Africa if you are short on time, but if you are staying in Cape Town and have a day to spare, definitely check it out!
TIP:There arent many facilities here its all about nature. So if you come for a day, make sure to bring some food and plenty of water.
One Epic Thing To Do In Mozambique
The Mozambique coast is the ultimate playground for all levels of adventure. With 2,500 miles of coastline, the ocean has an abundance of activities. When visiting Mozambique, make sure that you pick at least one water-activity of your choice. My top recommendation is to swim with the dolphins.
Ponto do Ouro in Southern Mozambique is perhaps one of the more popular spots to swim with dolphins and enjoy a magical experience. The various facilities that guide these interactive experiences are considerate of the environment and conduct the activity with detailed care for the dolphins well-being.

Golden Gate Highlands National Park
Beneath the open skies of the Free State’s Eastern Highlands, Golden Gate Highlands National Park enjoys extraordinary sunsets, and hides plenty of antelope, zebras, jackals and birds among its grasslands and sandstone outcrops. It’s great walking territory, but you can also drive short, scenic loops. Either way, views of the Drakensberg and Maloti Mountains loom large and there’s something almost fairy tale about the wind sweeping patterns through the nodding grass.
Summit Mount Kilimanjaro In Tanzania
With an elevation of 19,341 feet, Tanzanias Mount Kilimanjaro is Africas highest mountain and also holds the world record for the highest single freestanding mountain . Rising from the plains of the Serengeti, it is a dormant volcano and creates a stunning backdrop for wildlife safaris in the region.
Most people visit Kili to climb to its summit. It is especially popular because the trek involves no rock climbing expertise or mountaineering equipment. You also wont face the extreme weather challenges of climbing other continents highest peaks, like Mt. Everest. You will need to be in good shape and adjusted to the altitude. The trek to the top takes a minimum of six days, and you will need to go on a guided excursion.

Crossing the border from South Africa, encounter Namibias treacherously beautiful coastline, its soaring sand dunes, incredible moonscapes and savanna grasslands teeming with wildlife. Namibia is a country of contrasts and a paradise for wilderness lovers. See the best of this spectacular region by canoeing down rivers, scaling sand dunes, walking through the desert, savoring local dishes and relaxing in quaint towns and cities. Kruger National Park South Africa
When cycling the South African nations from Zambia to South Africa, we visited many national parks. And Kruger National Park is the premier wildlife viewing game reserve in the country.
It is South Africas premier safari destination. But if you base yourself in Johannesburg, this is the place to go to see Africas big 5. We went on many other game safaris in the country though and all of them were fantastic so we felt like we didnt miss out. Other game reserves include Kariega Game Reserve, iSimangaliso Wetlands, and other private game reserves.

Top 10 Destinations In Africa For A First
Richard Mullin once famously said that “the only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa, for he has so much to look forward to.” First-time visitors to Africa are indeed in an enviable position, with 54 countries to choose from and countless spectacular destinations ranging from game reserves to beaches, mountains, and cities bursting with color and culture. However, the prospect of picking a starting point from which to explore the world’s second-largest continent can also seem like a daunting task. Here are 10 of our favorite bucket list destinations, all of which offer an unforgettable experience for first-time Africa visitors.
Namaqua National Park & Namaqualand
Namaqualand and Namaqua National Park, close to the Namibian border, are so far from all the other tourist attractions in South Africa that youll hardly ever see it mentioned as one of the best places to visit in the country. Its actually more of a hidden gem of South Africa.
Come spring and the dusty valleys are transformed into a magical wildflower wonderland. The whole area is covered in colorful flower carpet, attracting local visitors and international tourists alike.
If you are visiting South Africa in August-September and feel like getting off the beaten path, you may want to include this unique region into your itinerary.

Sail The Nile River In Luxor
Have you ever ridden on a hot air balloon before? Neither did I before flying over the valley of the Kings and the Nile RIver to cross to the East Bank. Such a stunning and life changing experience, this tourist attraction is highly suggested for every tourist that finds themself in Luxor.
Once your feet have safely landed on the ground, head to the Valley of the Kings to see some ancient tombs as well as the Queen Hatshepsut Temple.
Luxor is probably the perfect place to sail the Nile River. I took a boat ride in Cairo as well as Luxor and Luxor was far cleaner. The Cairo Nile River gave off a green tint, you could tell it was extremely dirty. Whereas the Nile River in Luxor was a beautiful blue and I also got to sail on a beautiful hot day with not a cloud in the sky. Overall an amazing experience every tourist should get the opportunity to experience.
End off your trip by eating some traditional Egyptian food by the Nile River and visiting the 2 temples in Luxor.

Chobe National Park Botswana
I remember cycling the elephant highway through Chobe National Park. As we rode along the paved road cycling 800 km in just five days, we wondered what lurked behind the long grass.
Home to Africas largest concentration of elephants, we camped among elephant dung and wondered when the next herd would walk through our camp. It was an exciting time!
One of the most unique African safaris we took was on a riverboat in Chobe where we floated along the waters watching wildlife gaze upon the shore. You can even visit Chobe on a day trip from Victoria Falls if you are in Zambia and want to add another country on your Africa bucket list.
