Its casual. Shorts and tee shirts are often fine in the buffets. Khakis, golf shirts, deck shoes are acceptable for most sit down/premium restaurants, but at some high end all inclusive resorts some long sleeved shirts for dinner are more appropriate. Bathing suits alone are only acceptable at pool bars and poolside snack huts. You dont need much, but good sunscreen and hats are recommended. - Lanai For many years Lanai was a pineapple plantation and its now home to a few luxury resorts. If you want to enjoy the secluded beaches without the high price tag, the ferry from Lahaina on Maui only takes an hour so you could visit on a day trip.
The character of each island also depends on which part you visit. All the islands have a rainy side where the scenery is lush and green and a dry side where youll usually get more sun. They are both worth visiting, which is why we decided to split our island stays between two or three locations.
We had 3.5 weeks in Hawaii and chose to divide our time between Kauai and Maui, with one night in Honolulu before our flight to Japan. We loved them both, and theres so much to do on each island that were glad we didnt try to add in an extra island.

Fall is neck and neck with spring as one of the best times to visit the islands. The weather is perfect, the water is still calm, and the kids have gone back to school, which means fewer crowds at the most popular attractions. One exception is October on the Big Island, when the Ironman World Championships roll into town. Unless youre a triathlon enthusiast, you may want to avoid all the excitement and head to one of the other islands.

Many travelers dont realize that Travelocity, Orbitz, and CheapTickets are all owned by Expedia Group, and typically have very similar inventory and pricing to Expedia. Each of these sites has similar layouts and filter options, too. Like Expedia, these three sites offer every possible vacation package combination involving a flight, hotel, and/or rental car.
It was rare for any of these sites to beat out Expedias prices in my tests in general, the rates were identical or a little bit higher. However, Orbitz and CheapTickets did offer slightly cheaper packages on one flight/car itinerary.
Because the pricing is so similar, its probably not worth searching all three of these sites in addition to Expedia unless a difference of a few dollars will make or break your travel budget.
Best Feature: Travelocity, Orbitz, and CheapTickets all offer a checkbox on their main booking page to specify direct flights onlya feature that isnt currently available on Expedia. This saves you a step when filtering your flight options on later screens.
Note: Expedia Group also owns Hotwire, which I didnt find quite as reliable as the other three in my tests. For one itinerary, a nonstop flight that the other sites offered was not available when booking a Hotwire package , and the pricing on some searches was a little higher than on the other sites.

Your chances are almost zero that a simple request for a better room or location will be given at the resort because of your special occasion or circumstance.
