Can I rent out my excess points? Is renting even allowed by DVC?
DVC Members who dont plan on using all their points before they expire may choose to make the points available to someone else via a rental agreement either direct with another individual or using a points broker. The DVC Member gets cash for points that would otherwise be lost, and the renter has the chance to stay at a DVC resort for far less than booking direct from Disney.
DVC expressly allows renting. Section 5.1 of the Disney Vacation Club Membership Agreement states:
As stated above: A Club Member may make a reservation to use a Vacation Home for the Club Members own use, make their use available to family or friends or guests, or rent them. Neither DVDs, DVCMCs or the Associations approval of a rental by a Club Member is required after a reservation has been made in the renters own name, and Club Member are permitted to rent their occupancy rights on terms and conditions that they may establish
The Home Resort Rules and Regulations further states:

Buying Direct Or Resale
Buying into Disney Vacation Club is purchasing a real-estate interest, and contracts are also available for purchase and resale on the secondary market, with resale purchases yielding substantial savings sometimes up to 50% off direct-from-Disney prices. However, buying a resale contract does come with limitations some of them potentially significant.
Only members who have purchased at least 150 points directly from Disney are eligible for all of the previously detailed perks. Additionally, members who purchase a resale contract at any resort other than Disneys Riviera Resort, Disney Vacation Clubs newest property, which opened in December of 2019, are not able to use their points to book at Riviera.
On the flip side, anyone who purchases a resale contract at Riviera can only use their vacation points to book stays at Riviera.

How To Rent Disney Vacation Club Points Davids Vacation Club Rentals
Davids Vacation Club Rentals: Another company specializing in Disney Vacation Club rentals is Davids. Davids has a huge inventory of rooms for Disney parks from Walt Disney World to Disneyland to Aulani. There are also testimonies from guests who have used the services if youre looking for firsthand experience.
How much do DVC points rent for? The going rate for renting DVC points varies, but through this site guests pay $19 per point for all stays within seven months. By renting Disney Vacation points, Davids says you essentially do not have to commit to a full vacation package.
*Renting DVC points and dining plan: Guests book their villas and have the option of adding a dining plan and park tickets, but are not obligated to do so. This also means that park tickets are NOT included in the cost of the DVC club rentals point purchase, so keep that in mind when budgeting if you plan to visit the theme parks.
How Can The Public Rent Points
When owners are unable to use their points for the year, they have the option to rent them out to others. These rented points can be used by anyone. Transactions are typically done through point brokers, or privately .

The most popular and more accessible way is the first, using a rental store/broker. These third-party brokers buy unused points from DVC members, and then have a system to rent out all of these banked points to the public.

Disney Dvc Rentals Pay No Taxes No Parking & No Resort Fees
I dont know if there is anything I dislike more than booking a room online and it looks like a great deal. Then when I head over to check out the rate is so much higher than I booked. First, You have your hotel and tourism taxes but then you have these resort fees. This fee used to never exist and I have seen them range from $20-$50 per night.
In addition, you add parking fees and all of a sudden your room is $100 more expensive PER NIGHT! When you book a Disney Vacation Club rental, all these fees disappear, No taxes*, no resort fees, no parking fees and you even get free wifi.
*If you do book Hawaii there is a small tax on your room, due at check-in.

Can You Use Online Check
If you rent points to book your stay, youll be able to use that confirmation number to link the reservation to My Disney Experience. Then, youll be able to utilize Online Check-In just as a traditional hotel guest would be able to. Youll also be able to make dining reservations, FastPass+ reservations , etc. just as a regular guest would be able to. Youll also be able to use your phone or MagicBand to open your door if you want.
Youll also be able to use Magical Express to get to your room , and youll fall under the Resort Guests category when it comes to Park Pass availability.

What about other perks? DVC Members get access to DVC lounges, etc. so do you get those benefits by renting points? Unfortunately, you do not. You wont get access to the DVC lounges or be able to use the DVC member discounts.
But, you will get free parking as we discussed above, free laundry services , and since you are considered a hotel guest you will get access to some discounted MagicBands.
Dvc Rental Type : Rent Points For Stay Of Your Choice
The more customizable way to book a DVC rental is by finding the room and dates that you want, and then sending a request to get matched with a DVC member with the appropriate number of points. Once identified and matched, that member will make the reservation of your dreams on your behalf. This requires a little more legwork since you have to see if your ideal room is actually available , then have to wait to see if/when someone matches with you before you can rent the points and then have them make the reservation.
Pros and Cons of a Point Rental
- Pro: You pick your dates and location instead of only browsing existing reservations
- Pro: You still save a ton of money compared to booking directly
- Con: You have to check availability yourself to get an idea of your options
- Con: You have to wait to be matched, rent, and then make the reservation and availability could be changing during that time
- Con: You typically wont get super-rock-bottom prices because there are plenty of members trying to unload points, compared to existing reservations that need to be taken.

Can We Still Get A Dining Plan When Renting Dvc Points
Sadly dining plans are not currently available but if and when they do return the answer will be, Yes. You can check Disneys website for updates on dining plans here.
You can add the Disney Dining Plan by having the owner of your rental secure it for you. When using Davids Vacation Club they can handle this for you. They recommend that you make this request at least 30 days before your stay.
Dvc Members Renting Out Their Points
DVC Members Renting Out Their Points: So, you have some excess points that for some reason youre not going to use and you either cant bank them or you dont want to. Maybe you have other plans this year and want to turn your points into cash and use the cash for another vacation experience. Maybe you just need a year away from Disney. Instead of letting them go to waste, you can rent them out to others and pocket the cash for whatever you need.
Or, instead of renting, you may prefer to transfer your excess points to another DVC member. For that, please refer to Guide to point transfers between members.

Less Frequent Visits From Mousekeeping
Unless you choose to decline the service, Disney resorts currently receive light Mousekeeping service visits every-other-day, but DVC accommodations only receive a visit once or twice during your stay .
For visits that are 7 or fewer nights, you will get Mousekeeping trash and towel service on day 4. This includes:
- Fresh bathroom towels
- Replacing shampoo, facial soap, and bath soap
- Replenishing facial tissues, paper towels, and toilet paper
- Replenishing coffee, sugar, and cream
- Replenishing dishwashing liquid, dishwasher detergent, sponges, and laundry detergent as applicable
For stays that include 8 or more nights, you will get a full cleaning from Mousekeeping on day 4 and trash and towel service on day 8. Full cleaning includes:
- Changing the bed linens
- Cleaning the kitchen/ette and washing the dishes
Of course, all rooms currently receive enhanced cleanings prior to any guest arrivals.
What Should I Do After I Get My Reservation Confirmation
Youll want to obtain the confirmation number for your stay, either from the email you receive from Davids Vacation Club or directly from the DVC owner.

If you have your heart set on a specific resort and room type, book as early as possible. In Disney World parlance, that means youre looking for someone who has your specific resort as their home resort.
For example, an owner at Bay Lake Towers at Contemporary Resort can book reservations at that property before an owner who purchased at Saratoga Springs. That Bay Lake owner can book at their home resort 11 months ahead of time, versus seven months for owners at other properties.
Virtually all owners who rent points, whether directly or through a broker, charge a home-resort premium . This means youll pay extra to book further than seven months out. If you have flexibility in your dates or desired room types, dont pay this premium. Wait until seven months before arrival to find a slightly more affordable rate.
