Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Gull Cottage
The Gull Cottage is the most unique of all the options in this list. Located in the tiny finishing village of Prospect Harbor, Maine, the guest house is a historic landmark along with the lighthouse located on site. It was built in 1891 and renovated in 1969 for use as a Navy recreational guest house. The two bedroom cottage is two-stories with lovely views of the harbor. A full kitchen is available with all the utensils. Good luck making a reservation as there is only one Gull Cottage.
Venture Lodging At Lake Martinez Recreation Facility
The Lake Martinez Recreation Facility is located on the Colorado River and is an activity of MCCS Yuma. Their 13 individual units include cabins, which accommodate up to 8 guests, and park models for up to 4 guests. This recreation area on a picturesque lake offers plenty of outdoor activities, including boat rentals, swimming, fishing, and hiking.

Air Station Borinquen Cottages
These 2- 3- and 5-bedroom cottages are located on USCG Air Station Borinquen, about 2 hours west of San Juan airport. While they are not directly on the water, their location on the northwestern tip of the island provides easy access to snorkeling and diving in addition to the recreational facilities on the base.
Fourth Cliff Recreation Facility
This seaside recreation area, operated by Hanscom AFB, is directly on the Atlantic Ocean and offers sweeping views of the beautiful coast of Massachusetts. There are a total of 15 2- and 3-bedroom cottages and chalets. The facility offers outdoor equipment rental, including fishing rods, canoes and kayaks, plus surfing is available at this location.

Onslow Beach At Camp Lejeune
Located on a beautiful stretch of the North Carolina coast, Onslow Beach is a relaxing, low-key destination. Depending on what time of year you visit, you might find sharkâs teeth on the beach or see turtles hatching!
Lodging options at Onslow Beach include cabanas , various one-, two-, and three-bedroom lodges, and an RV park. Some lodging units are restricted to a designated rank. Visit the Onslow Beach website for pricing.
Reservation Policy: You can reserve lodging at Onslow beach for three, four, or seven nights at a time. If you are active duty stationed at MCB Camp Lejeune, MCAS New River, or MCAS Cherry Point, you can reserve up to 20 weeks in advance. Retirees and active duty from other locations can reserve 18 weeks in advance.
Destin Army Recreation Center
This military recreation area is associated with Fort Benning but is located along Floridaâs beautiful Emerald Coast, across from Eglin Air Force Base. It is a 15-acre gated resort that offers a pool, splash park, fishing pier, and boat rentals. Accommodations include two- and three-bedroom villas, suites and studios, standard hotel rooms, and a newly-renovated RV park.
There are standard year-round rates for Active Duty E-5 and below. All other guests pay slightly higher rates between March and September. Even the most expensive option, a Deluxe 3-bedroom villa, is only $170 per night during high season.
Reservation Policy: You can book most lodging, except for the villas, up to a year in advance. Active duty can reserve villas 6 months out, and all others can book them 4 months in advance.

North Island Beach Cottages
NAS North Island offers 20 2-bedroom cottages, which are located right on NASNIs Breakers Beach. Fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy your beachfront stay, each unit has its own BBQ grill and beach chairs. Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area
Former military 100% disabledFailingAt one time this campground was the best. Today, they are failing due to a lack of proper management. Prices raised from $25 to $40 a night yet the RV sites remain crumbling. Some pads are very old and narrow The restaurant is closed. The pool is closed. The RV bathhouse is in terrible condition. On-line reservations is a joke and very user unfriendly. $14 for a six-pack of beer is called gouging. WAY over staffed but claim they are so busy yet employees are mostly standing around or wandering around. Check-out times are not enforced allowing people to over stay infringing on the next arrival. Asst. manager Brian is confrontational, rude, just full of himself and unfriendly. Always has a scowl on his face. Handicapped parking and restrooms are inadequate to non-existent. There are no handicapped RV sites. On the plus side, mother nature provides a stunning view of the river. The new fishing pier is great. Access to the beach across the street is perfect, clean and usually uncrowded.

Navy Getaways Pacific Beach
Navy Getaways Pacific Beach is in Pacific Beach, Washington and it has 3-to-5-bedroom homes available to rent as well as a beachfront hotel. The location is perfect as a base for exploring the Olympic Peninsula. You can drive to Lake Quinault and explore the rainforest. Further to the south is Ocean Shores a beach town. You can also just stay put and enjoy the beach. Pacific Northwest beaches are better for beach combing and kite flying. It can get pretty chilly and there are fierce currents. Be aware that cars can drive on the beach.
This is just a small sample of military beach lodging that is available. A good place to start is the Navy Lodge because most navy bases are located near the ocean. The Navy Lodge at North Island is located right on the beach. You can find books on military lodging at many base or post exchanges and military clothing sales stores. As you can imagine these are extremely popular places to stay so plan to book well in advance or luck out into a cancellation. Sometimes if nothing is coming available in the online booking system you can call and find a stray day or two for a short stay.
New Units At Air Force Recreation Area Ready For Summer Guests
KURE BEACH — Just past a cluster of tanks and a camouflaged chopper sits the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area’s reception center. For three decades military families have stopped there to grab a cup of coffee and keys to service-members-only vacation homes.
When those families arrive in Kure Beach this summer, they’ll see a freshly built village of neat cottages — 36 vacation units that replaced 50-year-old housing.
Site manager Katie Powell said the new units — twice the capacity of the 18 units that sat there before — are pulling in more vacationers.
We’ve already had a large boom and we are expecting more,” she said. We have been steady since mid-March and right now we are pretty full until the end of August. … We’re very proud.”
That pride is obvious as Powell, who’s worked there for 23 years, leads a tour of the buildings, making sure the lights are off as she leaves each room and asking a reporter to please excuse tall grass left by weekend rains. She’s been waiting for the units’ summer premier — an $11 million project to revamp housing started in 2014 with the goal of having it ready by summer 2015.
But construction delays pushed the ribbon-cutting to last November.
For vacationers Suzi and Aaron Herd, the wait was worth it. After Aaron’s yearlong deployment with the National Guard, the Michigan couple headed to Kure Beach for a second honeymoon.

The Destin Army Recreation Area
The Destin Army Recreation Area is a lovely, gated resort in an ideal location in the heart of Old Destin Florida and near the Harbor Walk Village which is a upscale area with restaurants and shops. Large moss dripped oak trips are spread about the 15-acre resort on the banks of the Choctawhatchee Bay. It is also just a short drive to the pristine white sand beaches Destin is known for. There are a variety of accommodation including 2- and 3-bedroom villas, 1-bedroom suites and hotel rooms. On site is a full service marina with a variety of watercraft available for rent.
Joint Base San Antonio Recreation Park At Canyon Lake
This year-round recreation area is located about an hour north of San Antonio, Texas. It offers relaxing beaches and a range of outdoor activities, including boating, biking, hiking, and the new âNeo Canyonâ for kids.
Canyon Lake has various cabins and cottages that accommodate four to eight people. They also have an RV park and camping sites. See their brochure for pricing.

Primitive campgrounds for tent campers may be rented from $10 daily.

Lake Of The Ozarks Recreation Area
This facility is part of Fort Leonard Wood and is located in Linn Creek, Missouri. Set in a beautiful area surrounded by Lake of the Ozarks State Park, LORA offers plenty of aquatic activities, including boating, jet-skiing, swimming, and water skiing. You can also enjoy hiking, biking, and fishing.
LORA has one-, two-, and three-bedroom cabins ranging in price from $85 to $165 per night during the regular season, with lower prices from November through February. They also have military campgrounds, including RV hookups rustic campsites.

Navy Getaways Barking Sands is located at the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Kauai, Hawaii. These cottages sit a short walk from the beach. The outdoor adventure center has beach chairs for rent and you can also book tours. This is the type of place you go to get away from it all. The beach is quiet and secluded. The base is small so many things close early so plan ahead. Shenanigans is the on base all ranks club and offers lunch and dinner a few nights a week. Gorgeous waterfront views.
Cottage At Pointes West Army Resort
This Army resort is on Clarks Hill Lake in Appling, Georgia. An activity of Fort Gordon, the resort offers six 3-bedroom cabins and two 2-bedroom cabins, all of which have one bathroom. Pointes West also has five 2-bedroom, 2-bath cottages, which are more spacious and have two floors. All units are fully furnished and overlook the lake, with large decks and patio furniture.
While at the resort, you can rent beach and outdoor equipment, along with canoes, kayaks, and pontoon boats.
